SFA Packaging is expanding its sustainable packaging solutions with molded fiber.
These paper pulp-based packaging solutions perfectly align with the growing demand for environmentally friendly alternatives in the market.
What is molded fiber?
Molded fiber, also known as paper pulp, is produced from natural cellulose fibres. These fibres come from sources such as wood, cotton, recycled paper or cardboard. The process involves dissolving the fibres in water, forming them in a mould, and then drying and pressing them to create a sturdy, three-dimensional end product. This end product is light and strong, biodegradable, and fully recyclable. Thanks to its monomaterial structure and the absence of PFAS, moulded fibre is ideal for food packaging.
A sustainable addition
SFA Packaging integrates molded fiber into its portfolio of sustainable custom solutions. The material is used for trays, clamshells, cups and bowls. Moisture and grease barriers can be added for each application. It is also possible to personalise the material, for example by pressing a logo or label into it without affecting its sustainable properties.
TailorPack Group plays a supporting role
TailorPack Group (TPG) played an important role in the development of molded fiber. Through market analyses and research, TPG provided valuable insights into applications, sustainability, and cost optimisation. This knowledge contributed to the successful introduction of the product. The group will continue to support SFA Packaging as a reliable and committed partner in the future.
With molded fiber, SFA Packaging demonstrates how sustainability and innovation can be combined in packaging solutions. This step is fully in line with the TailorPack Group’s ambition to build a circular future.
